Cardiometabolic Aging

Aging is a major risk factor for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. This featured symposium will discuss mechanistic pathways involved in cardiometabolic ageing (including mitochondrial and endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress, inflammation, epigenetic modifications, cell senescence, and arterial stiffening) and anti-senolytic agents that can be used as cardiometabolic therapies. This proposal is likely to have broad appeal for APS members and EB audience given that cardiometabolic diseases associated with aging lead to shortened lifespan and represent a significant problem in clinical conditions. This featured topic will consider the inclusion of underrepresented minority groups.
