The Future of Exercise Physiology: A Tribute to Charles "Tip" Tipton

Symposium — Tuesday, April 5, 2022 — 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM — Convention Center, Room 202A
History of Physiology Group — Chair: Jerome Dempsey

Prof Charles “Tip” Tipton (1927-2021 impacted students, colleagues, professional societies and the disciplines of physiology and exercise physiology in many meaningful ways. This symposium uses Tip’s colleagues and former students as well as leaders in the field to pay tribute to Charlie and also to offer their insights in to the future of the discipline of exercise physiology. What are the major scientific problems to be addressed?... the need for new methodologies? …integrative/reduced preparations? ..inter-relationships with the “Exercise is Medicine” movement?...training of scientists? Brief remembrances of Tip from attendees will be welcomed.
