Vascular dysfunction plays a key role in the pathogenesis of arteriosclerosis, heart disease and hypertension which are leading global and national disease burden. Emerging evidence shows a close association between mitochondrial dysregulation and vascular dysfunction. This featured topic will focus on novel mechanisms of vascular dysfunction related to 1). Mitochondrial sirtuins. 2). Mitochondrial oxidative stress. 3). Mitochondrial energetics and metabolism. 4). Mitochondrial calcium dynamics. 5). Therapeutic targeting of Mitochondria.
