APS Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology

Volumetric Muscle Loss: Effects on Whole Body Metabolism

Symposium — Sunday, April 3, 2022 — 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM — Convention Center, Room 201B
Muscle Biology Group — Chair: Marco Brotto — Co-Chair: Gustavo Nader

Maintenance of muscle mass is of critical importance for regulation of whole-body metabolic health. A variety of conditions (traumatic injury, cancer, kidney disease, obesity) can result in volumetric loss of muscle with corresponding detrimental effects on survival and quality of life. This symposium will investigate the effects of volumetric muscle loss on whole body metabolism and explore potential treatments for this condition.
